António Zambujo and Carminho, two of the greatest Portuguese artists, will be performing at the world's largest exhibition of Fado in Brazil. The two artists will perform in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, with two shows in each city, scheduled for 9th, 10th and 11th June. Carminho, considered a great voice of Fado and with a great international projection, will present her new album Maria in both cities: on June 9th she’ll be performing in the Cidade das Artes (city of the arts), in Rio de Janeiro, and on the following day, June 11th, she takes the stage of Teatro Opus (Opus Theatre) in São Paulo. António Zambujo, the winner of awards like the Best Male Interpreter of Fado, by the Amália Rodrigues Foundation and with a successful career in the Portuguese music, comes to the city of Arts, in Rio de Janeiro on 8th June, and to the Opus theatre, in São Paulo on June 10th.
The Festival aims to show the permanent interaction of Fado with other national and international poetic musical genres, and, for this reason, will dedicate this edition to a trip through this magical journey of two centuries of permanence and changes, made of sharing, trading, crossroads and mutual fascination of Fado with other songs. This event started in 2013 and returns now with the promotion of new shows, a Conference, a Portuguese guitar masterclass, films and an exhibition with the quality label of Museu do Fado de Lisboa ( Lisbon Fado Museum). The Fado Festival, that was first created in 2011 in Madrid, will be held this year in 12 cities of Europe, Africa and Latin America.
