Ken Follett, The prestigious thriller writer, decided to risk a non-fictionalized book, for the first time, donating the profits of its sale. This is Notre-Dame, a book which tells the story of the famous Parisian monument that was the target of a fire last April. «The images left us astonished and in shock. I was on the verge of tears. Something invaluable was dying before our eyes. The sensation was disconcerting, as if the earth beneath our feet was trembling», Ken Follett confessed about what he felt when he saw the tragedy that occurred at Notre-Dame. From that fateful moment, the writer, who has 31 books published in more than 80 countries, had the idea of leaning on the history of the cathedral, its construction and the role that the historical monument had in the destiny of the entire French nation over several eras. Notre-Dame, a book with 80 pages, has been in bookshops since September 18th. The suggested price is €11.90 and the profits of this publication will be donated to the Fondation du Patrimoine, as Ken Follett's contribution to the reconstruction of the church.
