Recognized in Portugal and abroad, Lídia Jorge is a writer with a long and successful career. In her literary activity the protagonists have been the novels, some of them awarded important prizes, which confirmed her outstanding place in the panorama of modern Portuguese literature. Lídia Jorge has been writing poetry for a long time, but had never published any book in this literary style. O Livro das Tréguas, from D. Quixote Publisher, marks her debut in poetry. From the vast collection of poems she wrote, the writer selected 50, which she grouped in five parts: «Com a Origem» (with the source), «Com os Preceitos» (With the rules), «Com os Factos» (the facts), «Com as Fábulas» (With the Fables), «Com o Tempo» (over time). Written on different dates, and as a result of different states of mind, they were gathered with a chronological unit which corresponds, according Lídia Jorge, to «a kind of autobiography allowed». A reading of time and life, from the beginning, from the paths, the limits and the future. A poetry of great quality that reveals a new poetic voice and confirms a huge writer. The book presentation will be held at LeYa bookstore at Buchholz, Lisbon, on 21 may at 6:30 pm.
