There in the middle, a pool with a million transparent
balls, to which they have given the name Hyper Cosmo. On the ceiling, huge
balloons seem to form clouds. In one corner, a sofa that resembles a cotton
cocoon. There are vibrant mushrooms in a hall and a large transparent ball,
studded with charcoal «spikes», that can be spun to draw random scribbles on
the white walls of a room. Ahead, more coloured balls fall suspended from the
sky and are endlessly reflected on mirrors. The atmosphere is psychedelic. The
music is engaging. Art can be inflatable and in this case it is at the centre
of the immersive and entertaining Pop Air exhibition, presented over
more than 5,000 sqm in the Grande Halle of Parc de La Villette, in Paris, the
structure of which takes us back to the city in the 19th century.
The works of some 15 international artists offer a «new form of socialising
through art», according to the organisers. Get ready for an XXL-scale ride full
of joy and laughter, suitable for all ages.
Pop Air
A crazy and inflatable experience
For adults it is a return to childhood. For youngsters,
total freedom. This exhibition brings together works around the theme of
balloons, resulting in inflatable creations that populate those rooms as much
as they do our imagination.

With this new type of fun and immersive exhibition, La Villette is once again welcoming art with a capital A to be appreciated by the largest possible audience. And because Art is not just academic paintings and sculptures, an unusual aspect is presented in this event, designed in partnership with the Rome Balloon Museum, the first in the world entirely dedicated to these objects. The lighting accompanies the experience making everyone feel like they are in the middle of a dreamlike tale. And take note, all the balloons are biodegradable.
It's worth pointing out that the show was being devised and prepared for five months, in order to provoke the best possible sensations in each and every visitor.
Thus, after «Beyond the Limits» in 2018, a monumental exhibition by Japanese collective teamLab, La Villette once again welcomes a playful art project of great proportions, inviting families and friends to experience an extraordinarily unique day, until August the 21st. We know you will be amazed. Are you ready? One, two, three, let the bubble burst!
