The Museu do Quartzo - Centro de Interpretação Galopim de Carvalho, in Monte de Santa Luzia, Viseu, recently opened its Diamantes com Estórias exhibition, which will run until December 31, 2019. This exhibition will enable the public to see replicas of some of the most famous diamonds in the world and find out about their legends and stories. Cullinan – the largest diamond found to date -, Sancy – a diamond that belonged to the Portuguese court for nearly a century -, and Tiffany – one of the most famous yellow diamonds, for its colour and cut, among other legendary gems, are the precious stones that visitors of Diamantes com Estórias will be able to observe at the exhibition. The characteristics, stories and curiosities related to these minerals will also be presented. Created by geologist Galopim de Carvalho, the Quartz Museum was built in a former quarry and opened on April 30, 2012.
