Inserted in the DDD Festival – Days of Dance, which is taking place from
April 24 to May 12, São João National Theatre (TNSJ) is hosting the show Fúria on 2 and 3 May, with choreography
by Lia Rodrigues, a reference in South American dance and the founder of Lia Rodrigues Companhia de Danças. The
artist believes in the synergy between art and social evolution and, therefore,
develops her work in favela da Maré, in Rio de Janeiro, in partnership with As redes da Maré.
In 'Fúria', her latest creation, a group of nine dancers is molded while body (social), expressing themselves in solitary variations, compositions in group or mob unrest. The stage becomes a world of f(r)iction changing constantly, «a world of tumultuous fury of unanswered questions», contrasts and paradoxes. A work of great expressive power, militant in the way it thinks and works the otherness, Fúria moves at the border between dance, performance, installation and ritual, urging both the imaginary and the spectator's conscience, between the poetic fulguration and political commotion.
