Sony Music Publishing has revealed that a posthumous album with new songs, by the Canadian author and composer Leonard Cohen, will be released on November 22ndThanks for the Dance, results from collaboration between several musicians close to or that had some affinity with Leonard Cohen, such as the Spanish guitarist Javier Mas, who accompanied him on stage in the last eight years, or the producer Daniel Lanois, responsible for the musical arrangements. Part of the album are also names like enters Damien Rice, Jennifer Warnes and Leslie Feist, Richard Reed Parry (from Arcade Fire), Bryce Dessner (the National), pianist Dustin O'Halloran, the Choos Cantus Domus and Shaar Hashomayim, and the musicians Patrick Watson and Beck. Leonard Cohen died in 2016, at 82 years old, weeks after releasing You Want it Darker. Furthermore, from the recordings of this album there were excerpts of unpublished songs that the son Adam Cohen decided to conclude, fulfilling a desire from his father. Leonard Cohen was primarily known as a musician but, in fact, he began to be known as a writer. In the 1960’s, the artist published poetry and two novels, which were also edited in Portugal: The Favourite Game (1963) and Beautiful losers (1966), the Book of poetry and drawings Book of Longing and the anthologies Sons of anarchy (Assyrian & Alvin) and Poems and Songs.
