Carlos Ávila de Borba is a renowned sports consultant. He was born in Terceira Island, in the Azores, but his future traced him different routes and flights. Apart from Portugal, he took his education and professional training in the United States and in Germany. He was a professor of methodology of training in Japan, at Chukyo University in Nagoya, and was a speaker in training actions and conferences all over the world. Holder of a brilliant career in the area of Sports, to which he devoted a large part of his life, the passion for literature began to gain strength and became a reality. «Felicidade à espera» is his first novel, the first of many, which depicts, through an exceptional descriptive quality, a trip to the Azores islands and to the Portuguese mainland, moved by the escape of an athlete who couldn't handle with the manipulation and unbridled ambition of his own mother. For being, perhaps, a common reality to many athletes, we believe this was the writer’s inspiration to create this character named Alison, who will surely take the reader to follow her page by page, while enjoying a kind of prose-poetry written literature. At sports, Carlos Ávila de Borba traced a path marked by dedication and excellence, which brought him recognition at an international level and led him to be one of the world’s most wished coaches and physical trainers for top-levels athletes. Furthermore, he helped several personalities in the world of sports to become European, world and Olympic champions, such as Carolina Kostner, Daisuke Takahashi, Takahiko Kozuka, Mao Asada, Koji Murofushi, Kanako Murakami, Denis Ten, Mirai Nagasu, Adam Rippon, Kiira Korpi, among others. In addition, he directed several Sport academies; he was a TV commentator and collaborated with international Sport publications.
In literature, those who know him, are surely waiting for the same success. The book, with Marcelo Bengoechea’s cover, was released on June 9th, at Lisbon’s 89th book fair, edited under Calendário de Letras publisher, and counted with the presentation of the actor Ricardo Carriço, as well as the researcher and writer Pedro Mota. But those readers that didn’t have the chance to see the performance, don’t get disappointed, because the author will also be in the Azores, later this month, where he will present his new book in Angra do Heroísmo’s Noble Hall on 25th June, at 7:00 pm.
Nowadays, the author lives in Munich, Germany. He is a Sports consultant in France, the United States, Germany, Finland, Japan and Portugal and dedicates himself, naturally, to his passion: writing.
