Golfe Morro dos Veados – Os greens transformados em browns

Golfe Morro dos Veados – The greens turned brown

It is the city of Luanda that seduces and embraces the Morro dos Veados Golf Course. From the course, the view opens over the bay of the capital, without losing sight of the island of the Padres, the island of the Birds, and the alluring Mussulo Island, while also offering a breathtaking panorama of the Morro dos Veados hills. The monumental baobab trees and winding streams traverse this unique natural landscape, where, for more than two decades, the pleasure of playing golf has flourished along the 18 holes that shape the Morro dos Veados Golf Course.

The project, designed by Engineer Francisco Faísca, with the collaboration of Angolan specialists and the support of Engineer Calabeto, features a golf course with truly distinctive characteristics. The traditional greens, usually covered with lush grass, were replaced by authentic browns — an unusual blend of clay and sand that gives the playing area its warm, earthy tone. Despite its particularities, this surface allows the golf ball to roll with a speed comparable to that of a traditional green.

The initial surprise of playing golf on such an unconventional course quickly fades, replaced by the delight of a setting where sport and nature coexist in perfect harmony. Dozens of players and visitors, especially on weekends, make their way to Morro dos Veados to enjoy this serene and distinctive environment, where the landscape itself becomes part of the game.
