The cattle ranch, with approximately 5,500 head free-range on improved pastures, adheres to rigorous animal welfare standards, implementing a genetic improvement program through the use of artificial insemination and natural field breeding by pedigree breeding bulls, careful parasite control, and a humane slaughter method, ensuring superior meat quality. Furthermore, the farm's agricultural diversity includes sunflower fields for biodiesel production, horses for cattle management, goats, pigs, and poultry, while the resort's restaurant operates a farm-to-table concept, using ingredients from the property itself.

The abundance of water, with the Lucala River flowing alongside the resort, and an organized and sustainable environment make this space an excellent retreat, where modernity meets Angolan authenticity.
Terras de Koló Farm took its first steps in 2005 with a clear vision: to focus on breeding, rearing, and fattening cattle, combined with genetic improvement. In 2006, the first ship of selected cattle was imported from Brazil, a milestone in the project's development. However, challenges soon arose. An outbreak of a highly contagious disease resulted in the loss of many animals, leading to a complete restructuring of the operation and the need to start almost from scratch. Since then, with determination and strategic vision, the farm has invested in over 3,000 hectares of improved pastures, enabling efficient and sustainable management. Sanitation infrastructure was created, ensuring greater control over the herd's health. Furthermore, investments were made in capturing quality water through the drilling of artesian wells and the installation of a solar-powered pumping system, ensuring essential water resources for the cattle. A rural road network was developed, facilitating mobility within the property.

In 2023, with all essential conditions established, a new milestone was reached: the import of selected cattle matrices, consolidating the objective of expanding and genetically improving the herd.
At the same time, taking advantage of the site's natural features and the historic ruins of the old sisal factory, a new project was born: Kahombo Rural Resort. This initiative combines agricultural production and rural tourism, providing visitors with a unique, authentic, and immersive experience. Its strategic location allows easy access to three of Angola's most impressive tourist attractions: the majestic Kalandula Falls, the enigmatic Black Stones of Pungo Andongo, and the fascinating biodiversity of Cangandala National Park.

It's truly remarkable how the arrival of the Farm and Resort brought new vitality to the rural area, promoting an economic and social renaissance. The creation of jobs not only provided new opportunities for residents but also improved their quality of life, driving sustainable growth in the region.
Today, Fazenda Terras de Koló is not only a production center, but a destination that fosters connections between people, nature, and rural life. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about agricultural practices up close, explore the rural beauty, savor fresh meat, and enjoy genuine local products.

The Farm's history continues to be written, marked by resilience, innovation, and a commitment to excellence. The challenges faced by Fazenda Terras de Koló remain as present today as they were on the first day. The shortage of skilled labor, the difficulty in obtaining agricultural inputs, and insufficient support for entrepreneurs continue to be barriers that require perseverance and strategy. Furthermore, the distance between Fazenda and Luanda, a seemingly purely geographical obstacle, has become increasingly significant due to the deteriorating condition of the roads, directly impacting logistics and operational dynamics.
Despite the challenges, Fazenda Terras de Koló & Kahombo Rural Resort continues to face each obstacle with determination, seeking solutions that ensure its growth and strengthening in the agricultural and tourism sectors. This commitment to constant improvement is reflected in its daily work and in the consolidation of its role in livestock farming and rural tourism.
The innovative and sustainable approach adopted by Fazenda Terras de Koló reflects a strong commitment to responsible production and product excellence. This strategy stems from the need to balance production efficiency with respect for the environment and animal welfare, incorporating practices such as rational pasture management, natural feeding, rigorous veterinary care, and farming methods that minimize animal stress.

The observed benefits in meat quality are notable, highlighting improved texture and flavor. Furthermore, the commitment to responsible production meets a growing trend: consumers increasingly value the origin and quality of the food they eat.
Food self-sufficiency is achieved not only by increasing production, but by building a robust ecosystem that values, protects, and empowers local producers. Investing in agriculture and strengthening national production chains plays an essential role in reducing dependence on imports, while also boosting the rural economy and promoting a more sustainable sector, creating important employment opportunities for the social stabilization of neighboring communities, thus contributing to the fight against hunger and poverty.
To achieve this goal, it is essential to encourage strategic investments in the sector, modernize infrastructure, and ensure access to cutting-edge inputs and technology. Building strong partnerships between producers and local communities, industries, and distributors ensures that national products reach the market with quality and competitiveness. Furthermore, implementing tax incentives and financing policies favors the expansion of agricultural operations.
The Farm expects that, by the end of the year, its herd will reach 10,000 head of cattle, driven by new births and the arrival of 3,000 pregnant heifers from Brazil.
Later this year, it will launch a meat production project under its own brand, further raising the quality and authenticity standards of its products and establishing itself as a benchmark in the sector.
Kahombo Resort Rural is also preparing to expand its accommodation options, offering visitors a genuine immersion into the world of livestock farming. Every detail will be carefully designed to strengthen the connection with rural life, making the experience authentic, engaging, and memorable.
