Andrez Andrez – Essential Design
Share
There are many projects that establish Andrez Andrez as a leading light in contemporary interior design. Sofia and Joana Andrez develop unique signature projects, marked by their essence. In this issue, Villas&Golfe highlights some of the projects that best reflect this.
MACAM Museum Hotel
The MACAM – Museu de Arte Contemporânea Armando Martins (Armando Martins Museum of Contemporary Art) ranks as one of the most unique concepts in the Portuguese hotel industry, incorporating both a hotel and a museum within a single space. Located on Rua da Junqueira, in Lisbon’s Belém neighbourhood, it combines a contemporary wing with a historic palace that houses an old chapel, creating a natural dialogue between heritage and contemporary art. For Andrez Andrez, this project was much more than traditional interior design, requiring an understanding of the building’s identity and the significance of Armando Martins’ private collection, where art is a central part of the experience and not merely a decorative element.

Verdelago
Considered by Andrez Andrez to be one of the most accomplished projects of their work within the field of architecture and interior design, the Verdelago Resort, located between the protected forest and the sea at Praia Verde, exists within a unique natural context that required a sensitive, integrated approach deeply connected to the surrounding area. From the beach restaurant to the apartments and townhouses, every space has been designed to draw the landscape into the interior. Andrez Andrez is currently developing the design for the resort’s future hotel, thereby consolidating Verdelago’s identity as a destination of discreet sophistication and conscious sustainability.

RT 2
This private villa in Quinta do Lago, one of the most exclusive residential areas in the country and where Andrez Andrez has developed many projects, is the result of the comprehensive renovation of an existing property, in a process that involved interior architecture from the early stages of construction to the final design of each space. In a cohesive concept, structure and interior design dialogue from the ground up. The outcome is a house deeply attuned to the Algarve – contemporary, bright, and with a distinctively beachy yet sophisticated identity.

VDL 642
This villa in Vale do Lobo was planned from the outset as a permanent residence – unlike most of the villas in the region. Andrez Andrez’s contribution focused on interior design, with special attention to natural light and a balanced connection between indoors and outdoors. The aim was to create a house structured for everyday life, fluid and functional, which would also reflect the hobbies of the couple who own it. The result is a contemporary, personalised and highly liveable house – designed not only to impress, but to be lived in every day comfortably, with balance and an identity of its own.

Quarteirão Inglês
In an old mansion located in one of Lisbon’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, benefiting from a truly unique position and views, Andrez Andrez reveals one of its lesser-known but fundamental facets: interior architecture. In this initial phase of the project, the work focused on constructing the structural backbone of the space, respecting the original layout and grand scale of the building. From the redefinition of walls to the meticulous selection of materials for bathroom fixtures, wardrobes and closets, kitchen and laundry room, every decision was carefully considered and customised. A veritable exercise in technical precision and aesthetic sensitivity, worthy of the grandeur of the building.
