Located just a few minutes from the elegant avenues of Estoril and with the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop, the Estoril Golf Course ranks as one of the most iconic landmarks of Portuguese golf. With a history spanning decades and a prime location, this course entices visitors as much for its natural beauty as for the technical challenge it presents to fans of the sport.
[…] Estoril Golf Course ranks as one of the most iconic landmarks of Portuguese golf.
It was on this very course that important chapters in the history of golf in Portugal were written, serving as the venue for two prestigious competitions for more than twenty years: the Portuguese Open and the Portuguese International Amateur Championship. The longevity and consistency of these events attest to the excellence and exacting standards that characterise this unique course.

With a technically sophisticated layout, the course requires precision and strategy with every shot. The thing that matters here isn’t strength, but rather an eye for detail. The par 3 holes are particularly worthy of note, each one different from the other and each with its own personality. The 4th hole — affectionately nicknamed The Peppers Hole — is flanked by pepper trees, adding colour and complexity to the course. The 8th hole, The Tea Cup, is famous for the meticulous location of the flag, forcing the player to take an almost surgical approach.
The main 18-hole course is complemented by an additional 9-hole course, located just a five-minute drive from the historic Palácio Estoril Hotel, with which it maintains a close relationship. The support facilities excel in terms of quality and scope: academy, driving range, chipping and putting areas, bunker areas, pro shop, parking and rental services.
The club also offers a range of amenities designed to enhance the player’s experience: restaurant, bar with panoramic terrace, swimming pool and, a rarity in Portugal, a professional caddy service — many of the caddies have international experience and have worked alongside golfers on the PGA tour.
The caddy service at Estoril Golf Course is a rare and highly valued added service. With in-depth knowledge of the course and technique, these outstanding professionals have worked with top players around the world and are now available to accompany golfers on the course, offering strategic advice and explaining the unique features of each hole.

The course’s commitment to teaching is another of its strengths. Specialised clinics are run by big names in national and international golf: Daniel Grimm, Gordon Young, Tiago Cruz and Tomás Silva. With recognised certifications and a teaching approach adapted to different levels of experience, the programmes include practical lessons, handicap management, swing analysis and individualised technical coaching. A real academy for improvement at the highest level.
Estoril Clubhouse is much more than just a space supporting the golf. It is a meeting point for anyone who appreciates good taste, comfort and tradition. With a direct view of the 18th hole and the endless blue of the ocean, it provides a serene and refined environment, ideal for relaxing after a day on the course. The restaurant celebrates the flavours of Portuguese cuisine, while the Pro shop offers a carefully selected range of items and equipment for the most discerning golfers.
As such Estoril Golf Course is more than just a course — it is a sporting legacy, a place where tradition is reborn with every swing and where every visit becomes an unforgettable experience.
