Situated in a landscape where nature blends with tranquillity, of historic and gastronomic riches, this facility is a sought-after destination for anyone after memorable experiences, whether sporting, cultural or as a tourist.

Founded 19 years ago by Bruno and João Barros, Clube Hípico do Norte resulted from a shared passion that turned into a life project. With more than two decades of dedication to the equestrian sector, the brothers have created a wide-ranging concept that combines sporting, therapeutic, social, tourist and leisure activities. Today, the club stands out for its innovation and strategy, organising high-quality events that showcase the international equestrian community and position Northern Portugal as a sporting and tourist destination of choice.

Over the years, Clube Hípico do Norte has forged a unique identity. Its events are renowned not only for their competitive quality, but also for the way they bring together families and horse lovers, creating moments of great excitement. This development has been consolidated by live television coverage for 12 years on SPORT-TV, which has boosted the club’s profile and consolidated Esposende’s image as a prestigious destination.
Its valuable mission is clear: to provide unique experiences that combine sport with culture, tourism with heritage, and community with innovation. The events are built on five fundamental pillars – Sport, Tourism, Heritage, Culture and Community – providing launch pads for a raft of experiences. More than just top-level competitions, the club organises social programmes, cultural workshops, tastings and activities that connect visitors and the community, promoting Portugal as an authentic and genuine destination.

Its events are renowned not only for their competitive quality, but also for the way they bring together families and horse lovers, creating moments of great excitement.

Modernisation is another distinctive aspect. In September 2023, Clube Hípico do Norte invested in new amenities, refurbishing circuits, stables and logistical structures. Today, it has three indoor riding arenas, four simultaneous circuits, 20 paddocks, private yards, an electric horse walker, 150 stables, a bar and social areas. It also has around 60 permanent clients, over a hundred students, dozens of stabled horses and a team of 14 employees, ensuring that organisational excellence extends to everyday life.
With a busy sporting calendar, in 2024 the club hosted the National Dressage and Show Jumping Championships, as well as major events such as the Liga Norte, the Summer Tour, the Late Summer Equestrian Festival and the innovative Campeonato Nacional de Clubes (National Club Championship) – a triumphant debut that culminated in victory for the home team. Horseball and Dressage reinforce the diverse nature of the competitive calendar at a club that is part of the prestigious Portugal Horse Tour and focuses on collective strength to raise the bar for national equestrian sport.

More than just a venue, Clube Hípico do Norte has become a symbol of excellence and innovation. A place where a passion for horses has been transformed into a legacy, putting Esposende and Portugal on the world map.
