Casa das Ostras - Excellence and refinement in a passionate project

Casa das Ostras was born in the historic Bolhão Market, bringing the French tradition of high-quality oysters and seafood to Porto. Founded in 2023 by João Pedro Moreira, a French-Portuguese gastronomy enthusiast, the restaurant was born from the desire to offer a concept that was missing in this historic market.
Noticing the recognition for their quality and the fact that they were exported to several neighboring countries, such as France, João Pedro decided to offer customers a range of unique seafood flavors, emphasizing national oysters. From Algarve oysters to sea urchins, scallops, barnacles, and caviar, the success was immediate and has endured: from loyal customers to first-timers, no one can resist the freshness and quality that leaps to the eye, smell, and—hopefully—taste. There's also octopus, salmon pies, sardine tartar… and only the die-hards can pass without trying them.
Maintaining its essence, Casa das Ostras continues to grow. To ensure complete control over the quality and origin of its oysters, the company acquired its own oyster farm in São Jacinto, Aveiro. These oysters have a unique flavor due to the park's geographic location . This reinforces its commitment to offering excellent seafood while respecting the environment and ensuring maximum freshness.
In addition to the recent opening of a store in Ribeira do Porto, at the Hotel Rio da Vila, expanding the exceptional seafood experience in the city, Casa das Ostras will be opening this summer at Praia da Aguda, in Vila Nova de Gaia.
While this isn't his main activity, the project is a passion of João Pedro's. Oysters, as a noble, sustainable, and flavorful product, are a luxury. And when combined with caviar and sea urchin, they transform into a true fusion of unexpected flavors, delighting lovers of the most sophisticated cuisine.
