Oxalá - A unique experience of good food and hospitality

If you've never heard of Restaurante Oxalá, we'd like to introduce and invite you. The concept of this restaurant, located across from the Ovar marina, is more than just good food: it's a true experience. Upon entering, you'll immediately be captivated by the joyful atmosphere with which you'll be welcomed, and you'll want to soak it all in before heading up to the main dining room. In a reception area that doubles as a small living room, they'll welcome you with a bottle of champagne and serve you a glass, inviting you to sample the ham, the savory snacks, and the warm, house-made hot dogs, the cheese selection, and the owner's good humor. José Rebelo doesn't take things lightly; he says that "at Oxalá, every day is a party."
The restaurant opened in 1991 and celebrates its 34th anniversary this year, with a history that begins with Uncle Amândio and Aunt Augusta, who brought José, a native of Guilhofrei, Braga, from the village to the world of restaurants. The school was left behind, but he has built a lot, and today he is one of the co-owners of what is one of the most renowned restaurants in the region. Uncle Amândio, the founder, and José's brother, share the partnership and make up the restaurant's approximately 33 employees. Here, everything is considered; every detail is meticulously thought out, from personalized service to the preparation of the delicious dishes, including the decor. There is refinement and care, in a spacious and pleasant space.
