The eighth edition of Prémios Turismo do Alentejo and the fourth of Prémios Turismo do Ribatejo, concerning the year of 2018, were hosted in Montemor-o-Novo , and the initiative, promoted by the Regional Tourism Authority (ERT), distinguished the best public or private projects in 10 categories: Best Resort, Best Rural tourism, Best Local Accommodation, Best Tourist Animation, Best Wine Tourism, Best Event, Best Gastronomy Event, Best Restaurant, Best Public Project and Best Communication Technology. Altogether, there were 114 projects, from both regions, and the Herdade do Freixo was the big winner for the Best Wine Tourism of Alentejo. This is not the first time that this producer is recognized, as in 2018, it was awarded Building of the Year by the Arch Daily site from New York. The reason is simple. This wine producer, in Redondo, has a surprising, bold and innovative project, designed to endure in the future, totally respecting nature and the surrounding ecosystem. Penetrating the soil just beneath the vineyards, there is a new wine world to discover. Designed by Frederico Valssassina, the winery of the Herdade do Freixo is underground and it is truly unique and impressive.
