Ponte de Lima, nestled within the Lima Valley, is a tourist destination when it comes to manor houses and stately homes. A Minho town whose history dates back to prehistoric times, this is where the famous Vinho Verde wine flourishes. It is a traditional town, rich in agriculture and events that mark the region, such as the Feiras Novas and A Vaca das Cordas. Legend has it that the river Limia (named by the Galicians and much used by the Romans) was known by the Greeks as Lethes, which meant: forgetfulness. They say that anyone who crossed the bank would lose their memory.
Legend or not, it is with memories that we want to celebrate our visit to NHôme Country Living, a space where socialising with friends or as a couple is a pleasure. Here, peace is boundless.
On arrival, we are pleasantly surprised by the treats the marvellous team provides for us. Cheese, fruit, wine and a welcome card. It was already late at night, if truth be told, but it was around the campfire by the vineyard that our experience truly began. The long conversations, accompanied by laughter and good cheer, while toasting to life, made our arrival a memorable moment. When we retired to bed, time stood still in the cosiness of our suite, and we rested.
In the morning, the breakfast baskets on our doorstep grabbed our attention. And the laid table, among the vines, was soon stocked with an array of local produce. We could smell the countryside, contemplate the landscape and enjoy a marvellous moment.
