The
«Chefs a Lemos» initiative, which brings Chefs from Portugal and abroad to
Quinta de Lemos in Dão, will experience an historical moment, due to the fact
that on February 9th, Diogo Rocha will welcome Josean Alija, the
prestigious Michelin-starred chef.
Josean Alija is one of Spain´s most distinguished chefs. His restaurant Nerua,
located at Guggegheim museum in Bilbao is ranked 57th of «The
World’s 50 Best Restaurants», and is proud to gather innovation to roots and
its surroundings. Strongly connected to the Basque
Culinary Center, Alija supports the idea that ‘muina’ (the core, the crumb,
the essence) is the soul of his kitchen.
If for Chef Josean Alija «It’s always a fantastic learning to be able to travel to a place to expand one’s cultural and gastronomical horizons, tasting new flavours, meeting people who will certainly add something to one’s path», to Diogo Rocha «It’s an enormous pleasure to open Mesa de Lemo’s doors to other gastronomical cultures (…) to show the best of what’s being done at Dão and in Viseu».
