Immerse yourself in 2,400 square metres of relaxation, where Alpine and Asian traditions combine in a rejuvenating symbiosis, this is our suggestion in this issue.
The Chedi Andermatt is located in the heart of Switzerland, a place that frames imposing mountains and glacial lakes in panoramic windows. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and challenging temperatures, the wellness centre goes beyond aesthetics, seeking to achieve healing and prevention wherever possible. Life seems distant there – not in a negative sense, but from a serene and detached perspective. Time is slow, and the spa creates the opportunity for what everyday life doesn’t normally allow, such as simply breathing deeply, which has been scientifically proven to help relax muscles, reduce anxiety and improve concentration.

Ideal for taking a break from the daily grind

Every corner is enchanting and before long you realise that energy, body and mind come together in no time. The spacious hydrotherapy area with saunas and steam baths will pamper your pores and soften your skin, the Tibetan relaxation room will strengthen your body-mind bond and the indoor pool is the ideal excuse to take a break from the daily grind. Beyond these, there are oriental treatments and a fitness studio to complementyour inner journey. The very layout of this space seems to encourage self-discovery, with the constant use of reflections, the presence of harmonious symbols and the colours that invite you to relax. Dressed in a bathrobe, slippers on and a towel tucked under your arm, it is time to enjoy the Japanese hydrotherapy bath, a massage in one of the spa’s twelve rooms and the natural products that, when mixed together, result in unexpected elixirs. You know the experience will soon be over when the outdoor pool presents itself as the last of the activities. From one moment to the next, when the door to the outside opens, an oil ‘painting’ unfolds. Your view is the unobstructed landscape of the Swiss Alps, without fearing the cold, because the water that surrounds your body is warm enough to offset two seasons – summer and winter. And in this way, in that mix of thermal sensations, you realise that what you’re looking for is not perfection, but that juggling act that life insists on calling balance.
