On 15, 16 and 17 May, the 11th edition of the Simpósio de Vitivinicultura do Alentejo (Alentejo Wine Symposium) will occur in the Auditorium of the Commission for coordination and Regional Development of Alentejo, in Évora. This is an initiative that, takes place in Alentejo, every three years, since 1988. Organized by the CVRA (Alentejo Wine Regional Commission), for the ATEVA (Technical Association of the wine growers of Alentejo), CCDRA (Commission of coordination and Regional Development of Alentejo), University of Évora and DRAP (Agriculture and fishing Regional Direction of Alentejo), the event's main objective is to share the knowledge and scientific and technical development of viticulture and winemaking. Sustainability is a theme that also becomes part of the schedule and that deserves special mention, given the sustainability program that the wines from Alentejo have implemented in the region since 2014. For Francisco Mateus, the President of CVR «Symposium of Alentejo, this is an event that in addition to highlighting scientific and technical components of this sector, for which a number of personalities from the world of research, science and innovation were invited, also aims to stimulate the future vision of a wine sector with foundations in economic, environmental and social sustainability and research, development and innovation».
