The municipality of Fundão is working on the creation of the Casa Amália Rodrigues. It is hoped that pieces from the artist’s life and work will be on display by 2024, and the connection that Amália had with the municipality will also be explored. The space was chosen for its proximity factor, in the place where the fado singer’s father worked and which always had emotional relevance for Amália. The contents of the exhibition will focus on the collection recently donated to the council by the artist’s assistant, Estrela Carvas. There will also be a documentation and resource centre related to Amália, as well as other fado singers. The Fundão town councillor plans to open the exhibition centre in July 2024, on the occasion of the artist’s birthday.
