An
immersive experience has recently opened at Serralves Museum, created by
Japanese Ryoji Ikeda and the architect Nuno Costa. This is an experience that
guarantees architecture, image, light and music. The pavilion operates as a
scenario, where there is a screen on the ceiling and a mirror on the floor,
where you cannot enter without first taking off your shoes. The space combines
black shades and rectangular shapes, revealing a visualisation of data
extracted from sources, such as NASA and quantum physics. It is also surrounded
by an atmosphere of lights, monochrome colours, characters and sounds. Sessions
take place every half hour and last 11 minutes. The aim is to escape the
conventional, starting from minimalist forms and black and white that take the
spectator to another reality, with a view to providing a moment of physical and
mental abstraction. You can embark on this journey through time until November
2023, with the certainty that you will come out of it a new person.
