Amounting to €6.6 billion, investments under the programme for the valorisation of Portugal’s inland have been approved. The strategy aims to maintain or create 34,000 jobs, according to the Minister for Territorial Cohesion. Ana Abrunhosa reveals that the measures to attract people to the interior have already mobilised 2,800 people. For those who move from the coast to the interior, the «Working in the Interior» programme provides a maximum support of 4,800 Euros. For those who want to «Return», a subsidy of up to €7600 is planned. In 2018, the strategy for Inland Valorisation was approved in the council of ministers and has recently been revised. Today, the strategy has four dimensions: people, companies, territory and borders, and scientific and technological system. According to the Minister for Territorial Cohesion, the most sought-after district among citizens who leave the coast for the interior has been Castelo Branco.
