At the invitation of his Portuguese counterpart, the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, made a state visit to Portugal last July. In addition to the usual military honours, the laying of flowers at the tomb of Luís de Camões and the meeting of the two heads of state at Belém Palace, followed by a visit to the National Assembly, the first day culminated with an official dinner at the Palácio da Ajuda.
On the following day the Portugal/Mozambique Business Forum took place, attended by Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa, followed by the 4th Portugal-Mozambique Summit, where the governments of both countries signed various legal instruments enabling the strengthening of the already close bilateral relationship in the most varied of areas. The 3rd Summit between the two countries took place in Maputo in July 2018. Filipe Nyusi also took part in the Euro-Africa Forum, organised by the Diaspora Council, in a panel dedicated to the subject of reconstruction, in the context of the Idai and Kenneth cyclone disasters.
On the last day of the state visit, Filipe Nyusi was received at Viseu Municipal Council.
