White sandy beaches, stunning landscapes and retreating for at least seven days at Niyama Private Islands Maldives on Olhuveli Island is all you need to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Let’s travel to the Maldives, home to idyllic views, luxury resorts over the sea and where crystal clear waters await you. Just as chilling in one of the bungalows, in the middle of the sea, will motivate you to stay. Not to mention the well-deserved massage with healing plant oils, using ancient techniques that the Maldives know how to do so well. Can you imagine yourself all day long surrounded by beach, sand, sun and good energy? This is one of the places of dreams, perfect for honeymoons, family holidays or travels with friends. There is no shortage of attractions on this island.
The Maldives is a luxury holiday destination, full of unique places to feel and enjoy. Getting to know its islands is an extraordinary experience, as its natural beauty is one of the most incredible in the world. It is one of those destinations where you can find a true sense of privacy, and whatever the scenario, you’ll want to capture every moment on camera. The vegetation and wildlife paint the island’s true landscape.

It should be noted that the Maldives Islands was once a Portuguese, Dutch and British colony that gained its independence just over 50 years ago, having been decreed a Republic in 1968. It is the least populated and smallest country in Asia. This archipelago, spread across the Indian Ocean, consists of about 1200 islands, of which only 203 are inhabited. The maximum altitude above sea level is 2.3 metres and the capital, where just over 100,000 people live, stands at a height of only 90 centimetres. The dominant economy is fishing, mainly for export, and after that the tourism industry.
The Maldives is high on the list of dream trips for anyone with a passion for nature and peace and quiet. Who has never dreamed of falling asleep in a bungalow over the sea, listening to the sound of the waves in the distance, caressed by a cool breeze in the warm clear nights? It is in one of these luxurious rooms, with their unforgettable and romantic setting, that we find deep rest and look forward to waking up in every day
The Maldives is just a few hours away by plane from the main destinations in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, as well as from the Middle East, where there are direct flights from Dubai and Doha, in Qatar. For anyone travelling from Portugal, it takes just over 10 hours to get there, more than worth it, given the dazzling arrival. Another great thing is that is possible to move between the islands by public transport – on a boat. And the tropical climate, with temperatures varying between 26 and 31ºC leaves no room for doubt that this is a destination to visit at any time of the year. Niyama Private Islands Maldives is 45 minutes away from Velana International Airport (in the capital Malé), and the panoramic seaplane transfer is the first image that stays with us. Then we surrender to the resort, which offers authentic moments of luxury.  It is home to over 130 villas with thatched roofs, secluded decks, open-air showers, moonlight dips, some on the beach, others in the water. There are also grander properties with over 340 sqm and up to three bedrooms, private pool, direct access to the beach and sea.

You can also enjoy gastronomic experiences by the sea or on land in this oasis; a kids club; trails through the vegetation; bicycle rides; and the Drift Spa, a fun and refreshing place. There are many leisure activities, from glimpsing species by torchlight while night diving on the reef; enjoying the first rays of sunlight at dawn and practising yoga; sailing, while spotting dolphins at sunset; and surfing the waves. Stare out across the horizon and let the sunset and the breeze amaze as you soak up open air experiences, while fitting so many new emotions into your heart.
