Right next to the famous Central Park in New York, USA, the largest residential building in the world is being erected. Central Park Tower should be completed next year and will have a height of almost 500 meters. Located on West 57th Street and inserted in Billionaires’ Row, a luxurious skyscraper area in Manhattan, the tower reached, some days ago, its final height: 472 meters and 133 floors. The building was designed by the famous Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture (AS + GG) Atelier, a company that’s committed to the development of a differentiated and high performance architecture with efficient use of energy. Central Park Tower’s beautiful façade combines glass, brushed steel and other details that reflect light, which further accentuate the game of textures and lights. The interior design was in charge of Rottet Studio, also responsible for projects such as the St. Regis Hotel in Aspen, and the Loews Regency Hotel in New York. The tower will count on 179 luxury flats, with plants ranging between 133 and 1625 m2, in addition to a Nordstrom store with seven floors and a Central Park Club with almost 5000 m2 exclusive for residents. Lifting up to the top of this skyscraper takes about ten minutes and once completed the work, the lift will reach a speed of about 610 meters per minute. «You can see all the sites in all directions», said Gary Barnett, the founder and president of Extell Development, who’s responsible for the building during the presentation ceremony, adding that «you can see the entire Manhattan skyline at night, without no one covering the views».
