Welcoming 2018, Dubai amazed
the world with Light Up 2018, a light
show installed on the east façade of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest skyscraper
in the world, rising to a height of 828 m and boasting 160 stories. Now that a
year, more or less, has passed since the event, which was watched in situ by
more than a million visitors from around the world, and with an audience of
more than 2.5 billion people through live television broadcast and social networks,
SACO Technologies Inc., responsible for the project, wanted to commemorate the
date. EMAAR Properties Dubai, the leading real estate developer in the United Arab
Emirates, entrusted to SACO Technologies and its local partner, 3S Lighting
Solutions, the creation of a system that would fit perfectly into the
architecture of the building. The initiative took six months from conception to
installation and included more than 28 kilometres of SACO’s V-Stick® solution
and a 770-metre LED display that has high-resolution video capability. The innovative
show set a new Guinness World Record: the largest laser light and sound show on
a single structure.
