The Architecture Masterprize, one of the world’s most important architecture awards, elected Tiago do Vale Arquitectos’s company Small Firm of the Year, a distinction that, according to the architect from Ponte de Lima, is Architectural Masterprize’s highest honour, considering hundreds of architectural offices worldwide «for its excellence in design, practical innovation and competence for the execution of its whole work». Tiago do Vale confessed to feel «an unexpected honour, a joy, but also a huge responsibility» for being awarded this prize. «We accepted it as one more stimulus to continue pursuing this path of doing architecture, taking risks on the broad foundations of built tradition», says the entrepreneur. It is noteworthy that the members of the jury are important names of the world architecture. The award ceremony will take place at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, next October 14th.
