Nuno Gama, find out all about the tips that will make the last night of the
year an unforgettable one.
Celebrating in style
New Year’s Eve from the perspective of three designers
New Year’s Eve is prone to various interpretations. For
many, it is an important landmark, which deserves no regard for modesty. For
others, it is of little significance, being a day that does not require added
expense or eccentric customs. That’s why we decided to explore different ways
of looking at the celebration, from suggestions for eternal party animals to
those who value the serenity of their home, accompanied by the comfort of the
fireplace and a good film.

The tips that will make the last night of the year an unforgettable one
The personality of any outfit comes, first and
foremost, from the importance attached to the circumstance. Each of them has
their own opinion, but the three designers agree on one thing: New Year’s Eve
should be experienced in the way that makes most sense for each person. Even
so, tastes aside, it’s important to understand that what we wear says a lot
about us. So, whatever your choice of look, remember that you’re building your
social image for the world, or ultimately, for yourself.
For irreverent and daring dancing queens, Diogo’s suggestion
is a tracksuit with stilettos, which goes beyond the common beauty standards. For
a formal woman, on the other hand, Micaela advises a black dress with pearls,
«it’s the classic». And if sustainability is a concern, you can always opt for
«some family garment», Diogo Miranda suggests. Micaela adds reusing a dress
that can be converted. Or, even better, create a piece from scratch, «designed
and made of sustainable materials». If vintage is your style, Diogo suggests a
sparkly dress. Colours also have their degree of importance, and, in fact, Nuno
Gama knows all about this: «The colours of New Year’s Eve are on the darker side:
dark blue, brown... These are the hues that give us formality and mystery. The
night has to do with exactly that». He stresses, however, that «we should try
to coordinate our clothes with the group we’re with, so that we don’t stand out
too much or too little, as this could become offensive». The female designer puts
her money on noble and elegant colours, such as gold, silver, black and white.
To step into the New Year with the «right foot», the designers
also suggest some pieces that cannot be missing in men’s and women’s wardrobes,
from black shoes, jeans and leather jackets to black and sparkly dresses.
Still, they predict that the trends will be within see-through items,
sustainable materials, silks and international mixtures of styles. That said, all
that is left is to flip the question, «What will the designers be wearing on
New Year’s Eve?» Surprisingly, even they don’t know the answer, they can just
guarantee that they’ll add a special touch, matching each of their styles.
