If Google made its Project Jacquard debut through a Levi's jacket with a touch-sensitive fabric, now it's time for Cit-E, a backpack by Yves Saint Laurent, to come up with the same fabric in a handle, allowing it to control a smartphone. The Cit-E backpack will have removable 'tags' that contain the battery and the needed internal hardware so that each touch on the handle, made with fabric developed by Google, converts to commands for a paired smartphone. The backpack handle is capable of interpreting four gestures that are expected to be sufficient for, for example, the control of music playing, navigation aid and some notifications operations. To start using the Cit-E backpack, the user must download Jacquard App from the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android). This backpack is 31 cm wide, 41 cm high and 22 cm deep. Inside, there are storage pockets, including one for a mobile phone and one for a tablet or a laptop. Cit-E is available for pre-booking on the Yves Saint Laurent website and it is the first Jacquard by Google technology product made available outside the United States.
