GANT Portugal will integrate the GANT Group and, thus, join Sweden,
United Kingdom, France, Germany, Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands and
Luxembourg), Switzerland, Austria and Germany as subsidiaries. If, so far, the
brand has been present in premium outlets, such as El Corte Inglés and Marques
Soares, it will now focus on expansion, with shop openings across the country.
The first shop opened in GHENT Oeiras Park on April 12 and will be followed by
another one at Amoreiras shopping centre in early June. More shop openings will
happen during autumn and early 2020, considering the goals of the company’s
brand name for several distribution outlets and in department stores. To
strengthen the market, Martin Mattson, the former Global Business Development
Director, will assume the position of Managing Director of GANT IBERIA and will
usher in a transition of leadership and operations from a global perspective to
a local one. Another 2019 innovation is the 70th anniversary of the
brand that will be celebrated throughout the year, starting by honouring their
seven decades through seven iconic pieces: the button-down Shirt, the Club
Blazer, the Chino Pant, Piqué, Heavy Rugger, GANT Varsity Jacket and the Cable
Knit.
