It seems that Amazon.com Inc. will develop a device that can read and identify human emotions and is described, according to Bloomberg (technology company and financial market data and news agency operating in the world, with headquarters in New York) as a health and wellness product. Designed to be worn on the wrist, like a watch, and to work with a smartphone application, this gadget will be equipped with microphones that can recognize and read the emotional state of the wearer through the sound of his/her voice. The appliance can also help and advise its users to interact with other people. The Amazon.com Inc. is known for giving freedom to their teams to develop innovative products and, for this reason, it is not known at what stage the project is, or if it will ever see the light of day, since some products created by the company never come to be commercialized.
Back in 2017 it was registered a patent in the United States that uses voice patterns to recognize emotional States, such «as joy, anger, disappointment, sadness, fear, grief, boredom, stress and other States», and could even detect a cold and suggest some solutions for the pathology. Bloomberg believes that it’s an appliance of this type, although Amazon did not comment on the news.
