A ring is a rare jewel due to a set of unique factors, therefore they cost real fortunes. The materials used, such as the metal and the gem, the stoning, the design and the manufacturing process are predominant in their evaluation. Originally extracted in 1999 in South Africa, the Pink Star features a 59.6 carat pink diamond, cut from a rough diamond that had an impressive 132.5 carats. It is the largest diamond in the world, classified as Vivid Pink. This incredible jewel took about 20 months to be cut in its oval shape. After being auctioned by Sotheby's in 2013 for about 83 million US dollars, this rarity did not have its sale finalized and was returned to the auction house collection. In 2017, however, the Pink Star ring broke the record being the world's most expensive jewel to be auctioned for the 'modest' sum of 71 million dollars.
