In addition to several new features, such as the well-known dark mode, Android 10 will be able to transform hearing aids into real Bluetooth headsets. This innovation is due to the new protocol called Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) and allows hearing impaired people to use their devices to transmit audio, whether from calls or music. Google will make sure that the transmission is based on BLE (Low power Bluetooth) so that the headset battery can last a full day. For now, this feature is exclusive to some Pixel equipment and, when released, it will be able to be used in Pixel 3, 3 XL, 3a and 3a XL. ReSound LiNX hearing aids, Quattro and Beltone Amaze are the only compatible models. The North American technology will provide the platform under which the system has been developed, so that more Android devices should become compatible in the near future.
