In its nigh-on 30-year history, The Golf Club of Georgia has garnered a prestigious reputation, and has been considered one of the best private golf clubs in North Atlanta, USA. Although it is found in a secluded location, in the town of Alpharetta, its remoteness is no impediment to golfers, given that the 36 holes of this award winning course are challenging for any handicap. In fact, there are two courses, each boasting 18 holes, complemented by other facilities, such as the clubhouse, restaurants, bars and venues for events.
The Lakeside Course was designed by Arthur Hills, an American golf course architect, who designed some 180 golf courses around the world. Lakeside was originally built in 1991 and, already back then, was considered the Best New Private Course in the United States. It boasts rolling fairways and greens flanked by trees. The most interesting and challenging features are the 11th to 14th holes, as they touch the shores of majestic Lake Windward, enjoying landscapes rarely found in private golf clubs in North Atlanta. The Lakeside Course is currently ranked no. 13 in the state of Georgia by Golf Digest. For its part, the Creekside Course is artistically sculpted along the wetlands of Big Creek and features elevated fairways and greens. Recent improvements included restoration work to bunkers, unique water features on the 11th, 14th and 15th holes, multiple new areas to benefit players of all levels and new pathways for golf buggies. Creekside Course is currently ranked the 18th best golf course in the state of Georgia by Golf Digest.
The renovation project did not stop however at the Creekside Course. The investment of approximately 40 million dollars has made the golf experience even more pleasurable and even sophisticated. The brand new state-of-the-art clubhouse features contemporary, harmonious architecture and décor, creating a welcoming atmosphere. There is also the new Greenside Tavern, an elegant bar, the outdoor areas of which provide magnificent views of the 9th and 18th holes on the Lakeside Course, and of the new large Driving Range. To complement the golfing experience, there are also The Grill, Muirfield Porch and Cellar 91 restaurants, the latter available for private dinners and wine tastings. The new Lodge is a customisable event space with room for up to 250 people and is the perfect venue for any occasion, from elegant weddings or festive galas, to corporate meetings. In addition to The Lodge, there are three meeting spaces available for members - The Boardroom, The Meeting Room and The Dogwood Room. The Golf Club of Georgia is the proud home of the Georgia Cup and the Collegiate Invitational, highly competitive events that have created a tradition of excellence.
